DPS Artical

Daniel Phillips is the next generation Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and Handel combined? Well once you hear his music it will make the maestros look like armatures, if I said that his fingers moved faster than light it’s a huge understatement. His skills on the keys are astonishing. The strings heat up to insane temperatures when they are struck with the tortured hammers when he plays the ever famous Turkish March or the Maple Leaf Rag, in any key!
If you’re wondering how this possible well is I can tell you it’s quite simple. He started playing when he was just 5! Making him very competent for a boy aged 16. If I said to you how did he start playing the piano from watching an episode of Tom and Jerry, would you believe me? Well it is true there was the episode was called ‘Cat Concerto’ and it was Tom and Jerry playing Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 here its comedic value is inspiring as well it seems. He can now also play this piece to an amazing standard.
Surprisingly he hasn't taken any exams in playing piano; however he can clearly play above the grade 8. Let’s talk about his trombone playing as a hobby on the side he plays the bass trombone; this is a good instrument to be playing in an orchestra with as they are many concert pianists and therefore it is hard to get that spot with already many established pianists. He plays the bass trombone to grade for, but he is better than that. He can sight read anything to a fantastic standard, reading and playing at the correct tempo, flawless.
Over all his playing is fantastic, energetic, phenomenal and just genuinely fun to listen to. He is next showing is astonishingly beautiful playing next at the Hull theatre in the town centre I recommend you should buy some tickets now before it is too late.
